Congratulations to Donna and Mark!

We spent a sunny day at Newark-upon-Trent in Nottinghamshire today. We started the day with Donna getting ready at the Grange Hotel in Newark-upon-Trent. Here she is getting the last touches of makeup applied before getting her dress on and leaving in a stretch limo for Kelham Hall.

Donna had five beautiful bridesmaids, but one of Donna’s bridesmaids stole the show as you can see!

Kelham Hall is on the banks of the river Trent just outside of the town of Newark. The building houses the Newark town council offices, so you might not expect the interior to be as spectacular as it is. The majority of the rooms have some unusual architectural features and the ceremony room has a gorgeous decorated and detailed ceiling. It’s a really light room with the sun streaming in.

It really was a lovely day both inside and outside.

Congratulations to Hannah and Lloyd who tied the knot today during a civil ceremony at Prestwold Hall near Loughborough, Leicestershire. It turned out to be a glorious day, no sign of those April showers that we’ve had over the last week. The sun shone and it was lovely and warm outside, perfect for a spring wedding.

Red was a prominent colour at Hannah and Lloyd’s wedding, even featuring on the wedding ring boxes.

Here is Hannah, the bride, ready to depart from the Quorn Country House Hotel, for the ceremony at Prestwold.

And here is the bride and groom just after they were pronounced man and wife!

Then it was outside into the gardens to enjoy drinks and canapes on the lawn.

Prestwold Hall is a stunning 18th Century House with some beautiful features and furnishings.

A great backdrop for the speeches.

We are wedding photography specialists, but sometimes we take photographs of other things in our spare time. Sometimes I can even be a bit arty-farty… well at least I think so! A couple of weeks ago we visited some of my family in Merseyside and went walking on the beach at Crosby on the Merseyside coast. There is a sculpture display at Crosby beach at the moment, it’s called “Another Place” and is a collection of 100 cast iron statues by Antony Gormley (the same guy who made “Angel of the North” in Gateshead, Tyneside). The sculptures have previously been installed at locations in Germany, Norway and Belgium and they are expected to move to New York once they leave Crosby in November 2006.
