Featured Wedding in Wedding Ideas Magazine

We keep forgetting to let you know about our most recent magazine featured wedding. It was the church wedding of Emma and Richard in Leeds last May, the weather was great and with so many colourful touches it was a great wedding to photograph. The photographs are currently featuring as a ‘real-life wedding’ in the latest issue (out a couple of weeks ago) of Wedding Ideas. We regularly feature our work in magazines and we’re often asked by the editors if our clients would like to be featured. If you would like to see your wedding featured, just let us know!

We’ll also let you know more quickly next time when our next wedding is featured in print! To see more of this wedding in Leeds, view this slideshow on our main website: Leeds Featured Wedding. The pictures in the magazine are cropped rather aggressively, so the gallery will show off the photographs in all their intended glory!  You can also see our original blog post straight after Emma and Richard’s wedding.

Let it snow at East Lodge!

Filed under Other,Weddings • Written by Alison @ 11:10 pm

We had a great day today at East Lodge near Matlock in Derbyshire. We spent the day with Kirsten and James who married in New Zealand last month and returned to Derbyshire for a wedding celebration with family and friends. The day started at our bride, Kirsten’s, family home in Matlock for the getting ready photographs.

The weather forecast has been for heavy snow and for once the forecast was right! Here is the wedding ceremony and reception venue, East Lodge, set in snow.

East Lodge is one of our favourite venues, it’s close to our base in North East Derbyshire, the staff are friendly and it’s a great looking place for a wedding! While we were at East Lodge the snow was steadily falling all day, getting heavier and heavier as the day went on. When we left East Lodge our normal 25 minute journey home took us 2 hours!!! We actually had to abandon our car at the bottom of the hill where our house is situated as there was no chance we were driving up there!

Anyway, back to more interesting things about the wedding at East Lodge! Here is Kirsten arriving with her dad and bridesmaids – plenty of colourful umbrellas to shelter her from the snow.

James and Kirsten had an informal ceremony held by a celebrant. They exchanged vows and rings; and family and friends gave some lovely readings. Here are Kirsten and James holding back the tears as Kirsten’s best friend gave an emotional reading and her voice broke as she read.

After the wedding ceremony, we went outside for some portrait photographs of the two of them in the snow. Kirsten and James’s friends came outside to join them and a snowball fight ensued. No mercy was spared for them and they were pelted with snowballs!

It was a really fun touch to a special day. It was great to see Kirsten enjoying herself so much and not at all worried about her wedding dress getting wet.

There is always time for some romance, even when it’s cold outside.
