We had a fabulous day in Winchester yesterday for the wedding of Angela and David.

Stephen started the day with the boys in their hotel next to the church as they made their final preparations.  Here is David, the groom!

It was only a short walk to the church.

Meanwhile, I was with the girls at Angela’s family home.

While Angela and David were driven to Winchester Cathedral for the reception, the guests all enjoyed the beautiful weather and walked from the Church to the cathedral.

The bridesmaids dresses were a fabulous shade of blue and their orange calla lillies contrasted really well.

We often see speeches before the wedding breakfast but not many speeches are held outside in such a splendid setting!

The top table had just two chairs!  One for Angela and one for David :D

David described the first dance as “synchronised kicking” but he was a much better mover than he gave himself credit for!

Then the rest of the guests joined in.

Lyndsey & Simon | Comlongon Castle, Scotland

We spent this weekend in Scotland, just over the border in a village close to Gretna and Dumfries for Lynsey and Simon’s wedding at Comlongon Castle.  Comlongon Castle is a restored 14th Century medieval Scottish castle keep and baronial hotel.

We arrived as Lynsey was getting the finishing touches to her hair.

A piper escorted Simon and the guests around to the castle keep for the start of the formal proceedings.

Lynsey waved to a few of the guests as they passed underneath the window of her suite.

Inside the great hall the ceremony got underway.

While everyone else was enjoying the drinks, the best man was calming his nerves outside.

It was a bright and breezy day and keeping Lynsey’s veil under control was a challenge!

The best man needed not to have worried; he delivered a hilarious speech.

As you might expect for a wedding in a Scottish Castle, the best way to celebrate into the evening was with a ceilidh!

Eastwood Hall, Nottingham | Sarah and Paul

The second of our weddings this weekend was Sarah and Paul’s civil wedding at Eastwood Hall near Nottingham.  The nerves were kicking in as Sarah made her final preparations.  Sarah’s nerves were soothed by her bridesmaid Louise.

Some people feel a bit camera shy at weddings…

Sarah and Paul were self-confessed camera shy people, but hopefully we helped them feel relaxed as we took some portraits of the two of them.

Little Mr Camera Shy forgets we are there as he enjoys himself with the other children at the wedding.

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire | Emily and Oliver

We’ve had a busy weekend with weddings in Cambridge and Nottingham.  The first was the wedding of Emily and Oliver in Cambridge.  Stephen started the day with the boys in the Pickerel Inn close to Magdalene Bridge and River Cam.

Meanwhile I was with Emily and the girls at Emily’s flat.  Last touches to Emily’s make-up with 43 minutes to go!

The boys make their way from the pub to Caius (pronounced “keys”) Chapel; part of Gonville and Caius College.

Emily forgot her bouquet and one of the ushers was dispatched on a bicycle to fetch it.  Another usher thought he could beat the cyclist in his car, but the cyclist won.  Bikes are such a part of Cambridge that it was only fitting that the bike should win!

The Caius Chapel was stunning.  Emily and Oliver had to recieve a licence from the Archbishop of Cantebury to be able to marry there. The impressive document was read out by the vicar at the start of the ceremony.

Emily and Oliver met at Gonville and Caius so it was fitting that they should marry in the chapel.

Out in the courtyard the ushers and Oliver poured out a champagne fountain.

The was the spot in a courtyard at Gonville and Caius were Oliver and Emily first met.

Continuing the Cambridge theme, Oliver and Emily left the college on a bicycle with some noisy cans tied to the bike by their ushers.  Definitely a first for Purvis-Gisborne Photography!

The entire wedding party then boarded punts and took a trip down the Cam to Magdalene Bridge.  It was quite a sight seeing ushers, bridesmaids and guests all punting down the river while their passengers drank Pimms and ate grapes!

Then everyone boarded a London Routemaster bus to Girton College for the reception.

We left just as everyone went into the college for drinks and dinner.

Indian Wedding | Interview

We were interviewed a while ago by the Indian Wedding website “Wedding Sutra” in the USA and the feature has just gone live this week!  We supplied lots of photographs and they’ve selected just a few from a sikh wedding and from three hindu weddings along with one album spread from a civil wedding.  Check out the photographs and our interview about our approach to wedding photography and Indian weddings.

The only downside is that we had to supply a photograph of ourselves – now you can see why we take the photographs rather than be photographed!
